Centre of the Irish literary revival ~ Coole Park
Carved into the bark of an old tree are the initials of Lady Gregory’s friends who came to visit at Coole Park. Among them were George Bernard Shaw and William Butler Yeats, names that I have known for years. The house is gone, and after this year’s storms the trees grow out of the lake and newly formed ponds. With new growth on the trees and daffodils about to bloom, it is beautiful in the early spring.
