2014-10-16 21.31.38-1Down the narrow streets of old Bucharest restaurants overflowed with their tables, their music and their customers. We’d arrived in late already having driving from Craiova that afternoon. After passing the same street several times over we finally found what we were looking for – a restaurant that has been tucked away in the heart of the city for 125 years. We just happened to arrive on their birthday celebration with cake, champagne and fancy dress. We were told the only table available would be in the small non-smoking section which suited us just fine. Through the rotating door we were greeted with the sight of painted high domed ceilings, mosaic floors, intricately carved woodwork, crowds of people and the feeling of stepping back in time.
